The Worland Police Department is located in the Washakie County Law Enforcement Center directly adjacent to the Washakie County Courthouse. The WPD employs eleven full-time personnel who are responsible for the law enforcement in the City of Worland and heavily involved in community service. From working with school resource personnel to enforcing ordinances, the WPD operates as a "jack of all trades" in the field of law enforcement. It is not unusual to see an investigator issuing a traffic citation.
The WPD is a proud member of a multi-jurisdictional Emergency Response Team made up of members of the Cody, Lovell, Riverton, Thermopolis and Worland Police Departments as well as the Big Horn and Washakie County Sheriffâs Departments.
Presently, the WPD is involved in the nationally known D.A.R.E America program to help detour our youth from entering a life of drug use. Chief Bankert and Officer Roger Brookwell head up the WPD effort.
Captain Williams has been instrumental in the construction and operation of the Worland Shooting Complex. The instructional classes for handgun & rifle safety have been recognized nationally to be superior.
