L.W. "Sonny" Shearer was elected Mayor of Worland on November 2, 2004. He was sworn in as Mayor and began his four-year term on January 6, 2005.

Mayor Shearer was born in Olney, Illinois on December 29, 1941 but has lived in Worland for over 50 years. He is a graduate of Worland Senior High School, class of 1960. He married his wife Marion in 1965 and they have two sons, Gavin and Kenneth and two granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Baylie.

Mayor Shearer has worked as a Coach at Dean Morgan Junior High School in Casper and Worland Senior High School. He is currently employed by Washakie County School District #1 as an Activity Bus Driver.

Sonny believes in Worland and considers his term of office as "a time for change".
