Worland Municipal Airport first opened in 1945 as a dirt landing strip and operated that way until 1949, when a 5,200-foot paved runway was constructed. Since that time, the runway 16/34 has grown to 7,000 feet in length and 100 feet wide. There is a 35-foot wide full-length parallel taxiway on the east side of the R/W. There are also two dirt crosswind runways (10/28 and 4/22) at the airport that are open during the summer months.

Worland Municipal Airport has begun its Runway Relocation Project with the rebuilding and lengthening of the taxiway in 2005. Scheduled for this construction year (2006) is the rebuilding and addition of 1,700 feet of runway to the south end of 16/34.

During construction, which is anticipated to take 70 working days, R/W 16/34 will have a useable length of 4,300 feet for the majority of the project. There will be a short period of time near the end of construction when the R/W will be shut down to make the tie-in between the new and existing surfaces. After completion, the total length for R/W 16/34 will be 8,700 feet.

The final phase of this project will be the rebuilding and shortening of the north end of the runway for a total length of 7,000 in 2007.

Please don't hesitate to call if you have any questions on this project.
